Kickstart Change--How Music Can Be Used In Coaching?

  • Music is a powerful agent of change and stress relief.

  • It can affect your physical body,emotions, mind, and actions.

  • Music can be used to boost your mood, mindset, and perception of  situation.

  • It can motivate you to push harder with less resistance and pain.

  • Music boosts endurace.You don't feel so bogged down or shackled by the problems, tasks, and challenges you are facing when you add music to your day.

  • For example, you may feel too tired to work out,but when you crank up your favorite music it gives you a jolt of energy.

  • Another example, you could feel sad or frustrated about something yet when your favorite song plays your mood improves.  You maystartdancing around the room, singing along, and your mood is transformed.

  • Music can be used in a similar way in coaching.  

    • Music can be used as a tool to empower and support you on your journey to a more meaningful life, a more confident life, a more fulfilling life, to resolve challenges.​

    • The purpose of music in coaching is its ability to speak to you on a deep level and awaken your authentic self.

    • It can influence who you are and who you want to be.  

    • Music in coaching can help you focus on resolution, open your mind to possibilies, facilitate relaxation, and aids in visualization of dreams realized to spark feelings of pleasure.

    • Say, you are stuck in a rut and you can't seem to shake it.

      • I can guide you to use music in order to break through those barriers. 

      • This can be done by listening to or playing your favorite music.  The emotion it evokes in you can help you open your mind to possibilities.

      • I will invite you to share your story--a brief background of what is going on, why you have sought our coaching.

      • Then we can use music in any way you choose to break down barriers, tackle difficult stumbling blocks, find clarity, motivate you and positively change your mindset/mood in order to bring about meaningful change.

      • We can begin our session by playing your favorite song for 90 seconds.  Any song you find motivating, inspiring, fitting for the topic of discussion, fitting for how youwant to show up for the session.

      • We can also end our session with music that you feel is fitting--that motivates and insprires you to move forward and tackle the action steps you have committed to.

  • Sometimes a sad song helps to break down a wall that is keeping your emotions in check.  That release can help free you to think of new ideas,insights to tackle and resolve a challenge you are facing.

  • So, it's not all about happy songs.  It's about what music moves you to take action toward positive change.  Sad, happy, fast, slow, instrumental, lyrical, blues, rock, jazz, Celtic, soul, country, pop, indie, reggae,andmore.  Whever music feels authentic to you, appropriate for the situation, coming from your heart and soul.  Instinctual.  Whatever resonates with you.

  • Know that you are free to choose whatever music moves you and you feel will help bring meaningful change without fear of being judged.  Music that touches your soul is very personal and I as your coach honor and respect that.
